Did You Know...

  • Tooth Fairies date back to the 1920s. Almost 100 years!
  • Author and illustrator Katie Davis is given credit for the creation of the unofficial holiday.
  • Katie Davis marks the occasion on February 28th, but it's also recognized on August 22nd. This means you can celebrate Tooth Fairy Day once every six months, the same as when your dentist recommends you should visit.
  • Lots of countries acknowledge the Tooth Fairy differently. Here's a fun few you can explore with your little learner and see what each country does as part of their traditions: Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Haiti, India. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Middle East, Nepal, Russia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan.

Dress For The Occasion

We here at Mia Belle know a thing or two about fairies. And what's fun about Tooth Fairies is they are up to interpretation. Meaning sparkles, rainbows, and even unicorn horns are A-OK. Here are three phenomenal fairy costumes to help sell the illusion.

Flower Sequined Tinkerbell Inspired Halloween Costume

This pretty green dress has sequined wings and flower appliques sewn along the front. The colorful tulle on the outside adds to the fluffy fairy skirt. It comes lined with soft polyester fabric, so it doesn't irritate your baby's skin. Match it up with our fairy wand and gold glitter shoes for a truly magical ensemble.

Magical Golden Rainbow Unicorn Costume

Maybe she would like something a little more colorful. This girl's costume comes cut from soft satin fabric with a large rainbow cascading over the front. The tulle sleeve and skirt have shimmer gold flakes all over that sparkle in the light. Additionally, this dress comes with gold metallic wings and a unicorn headband with a rainbow mane.

Golden Butterfly Fairy Halloween Costume

Perhaps butterflies are more her thing. Then this girl's costume is the one for her. Adorned with many brilliant sequins across the bodice, she'll love the 3D butterfly and flower applique giving the tutu-style dress an ethereal feel. Add on the wings, wand, and shiny slippers to complete the look.

Any one of these designs can help your creative cutie come up with a particular tooth fairy all her own that she can transform into whenever someone in the house loses a tooth or just for fun.

Fun Ways To Celebrate The Occasion

It seems like Tooth Fairy would be tough to find movies about, but as it turns out, there are quite a few from which to choose. We recommend Disney's Toothless from 1997, DreamWorks' Rise of the Guardians from 2012, and the 2010 comedy Tooth Fairy with Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Eat Healthy Snacks

Eating certain foods can help to clean and repair your teeth even when you aren't brushing. Carrots, celery, and apples give your teeth an extra brushing. While cheese, yogurt, and plain nuts help to repair enamel. Even chocolate in small amounts can be just fine for those sweet tooth sweethearts out there.
